Sephora Haul

While I was home I did some much (un)needed shopping for makeup at Sephora and as always, I went a little overboard while I was there.  I went with the intention of buying a new undereye concealer, and left with a bag full of goodies.  The first amazing thing I found was this crazy sort of moisturizer serum-type thing. It's from Make Up For Ever and it's called High Definition Elixir.  I have superrr sensitive skin and every so often it gets really dry, red and irritated.  Apparently this stuff boosts hydration by some ridiculous percent (520% to be exact) after 15 minutes of being on the skin.  Obviously after seeing that crazy number I had no choice but to get it.  So far its been good, my skin hasn't been dry at all since then and it's really good at smoothing everything over before you put on makeup.

The undereye concealer I did end up buying is also from Make Up For Ever and I'm really pleased with it.  It's called HD Invisible Cover Concealer and I had seen it around a lot but never considered buying it until it was voted best concealer in Allure magazine's beauty awards.  Allure magazine knows their shit so I knew it really was the best concealer out there.  So far I loveee it.  It comes in this little pen with a rubber tip at the end.  It's super creamy and goes on my dry eye area really well.

The third thing I got was Laura Mercier's Silk Creme Foundation.  I've been through countless LM face products and I have loved all of them so I knew this would also be fabulous.  Recently my skin has been looking like that of a 13-year-old boy going through puberty so I decided I need to ditch the tinted moisturizer and step it up a notch.  The added coverage is definitely appreciated and it still doesn't look like I'm wearing a lot on my face so I love it.

The last product I got was only a little bit unnecessary.. I ended up grabbing a nail polish on my way to the checkout line that caught my eye.  It's a little like OPI's You Don't Know Jacques that I had on a few weeks ago but lighter and more sparkly.  I put it on a couple days ago and I really like it.  It's kind of got a hint of green in it and it hasn't chipped at all which is rare when I apply it myself.

Halloween!

Here at school Halloween lasts about two or three nights typically.  After much thought, I think I've finally figured out all my costumes.  First off, I knew I wanted to be Sookie Stackhouse because I'm obsessed with True Blood and vampires, to the point of it getting a little weird.  But halloween is really the only night it's acceptable to be as weird as you want so I'm going with it.  I went so far as to get the the Merlotte's tee shirt and apron on hbo.com and I plan on getting some fake fang bite marks from the halloween store.  Then I'll just wear some black shorts and keds.  Can't wait.

My next idea for a costume is to be the cast of Jersey Shore with a bunch of my friends who are from New Jersey also. Everyone who's not from the east coast here assumes people from Jersey all look like Snooki and The Situation and it couldn't be farther from the truth.  So for once we'll get in on the joke and dress guido.  I'm planning on being Sammi Sweetheart so I have a tight fake leather skirt from last year's halloween and I plan on wearing lots of bronzer and something leopard-printed.  Should be interesting..

I'm trying not to go all-out for my last costume.  It'll be a weeknight and I'm not willing to spend much money either.  I was thinking I would dress up like some sort of grunge-y rocker chick.  I have a pair of black short boots and I'll probably get a black tee from wal-mart and cut it up.  Paired with some jean shorts, lots of black eyeliner, and some random accessories I think that's all I really need.

OPI: I Get A Kick Out of Gold

I finally got a much-needed manicure while I was at home with my BFF Annie and instead of going for my usual beige color, I decided to be bold and get a really sparkly gold.  The color is not annoyingly bright which is nice because with some sparkly shades, I feel like they're too much and not appropriate for daytime.  I've already gotten several compliments and will definitely be getting this again.

Style Watching

Reading fashion magazines is honestly one of my favorite things to do. It sounds lame, but whenever I buy a new magazine, I always get really excited and get the feeling like I'm about to learn all these amazing new style secrets. Typically, there are so many things I love in magazines that I get a little overwhelmed. To narrow my focus, I weeded it down to a few things to keep my eye on instead. All the things here are from one of my favorite magazines, People Style Watch.

Flower Power

Every October we like to decorate the front of our house with flowers in really pretty shades perfect for autumn. Today my sister and I had a bit of a photo-shoot in your yard inspired by the awesome colors around us.

Madewell Favorites

Being home means a few things: relaxing nights with my family, eating good food, and shopping with my mom.  Madewell is a store in my mall that I make sure to stop in every time I visit.  Being Jcrew's sister store, you can expect great quality clothes but that's also a bit younger and trendier.  Honestly about half of my wardrobe is from Madewell.  It's got awesome basics and amazing stand-out pieces.  Here are a few things me and my mom bought today at our favorite store.

Cool-Weather Chic

The recently dropping temperatures have been making me painfully aware of the fact that I'm really unprepared for fall.  Now that I'm back home for fall break (yayyy) I can finally start shopping for the autumn essentials I've been missing.  Last night I was looking at Forever21.com and there were so many cute jackets, including a very trendy shearling aviator jacket.  On the website the jacket doesn't look cheap at all so I'll be excited to go to the store and see how cute it really is.

Liza Bennett = Fashionista

This weekend was homecoming and everybody was dressed in their finest apparel for the evening.  One of my friends, Liza, was looking especially good.  Although I'm pretty sure the majority of her outfit was borrowed from other friends, she's still looking fabulous in a gray ruffled shirt and black leggings.

A really cute and unexpected part of the shirt is the back.

Always a going-out favorite, the satchel.

Booties

I can't decide if short boots are a good look for me yet.  I'm short and not a fan of anything that will make my legs look shorter and bulkier.  But every time I see a girl wearing a pair I immediately think I need to get some of my own.  I was on Piperlime.com and there are so many different options I can't decide which ones I like best.  Thoughts?

Urbay Decay Naked Palette

I got this eyeshadow palette for my birthday (thanks mom) and have used it literally every weekend I've gone out.  It is AMAZING.  Literally it has every shade you could ever need and you can make so many different looks with it.  You can go from a light daytime/everyday look to a really dark smokey eye.  It also comes with Urban Decay's awesome primer potion and a double-sided black/brown eyeliner.  For all this it was like 44 dollars which is soo worth it.   Kind of obsessed...

These are a few of my favorite looks:
Sin in the inner corner, Sidecar on the lid, Darkhorse in the outer corner and lower eye-line, Buck in the crease

Sin on the inner half of the lid, Gunmetal on outer half of the lid, in crease and lower eye-line, Creep in outer corner and eye-line.

Half Baked in inner corner, Toasted on lid, Darkhorse in outer corner and lower eye-line, Buck in crease

Satchels of Gold

I'm not quite sure what Kelly Bensimon meant when she was screaming "Satchels of Gold!!" at Bethenny Frankel during a Real Housewives of NYC episode, but I do know that I loveee satchels.  Up until a couple weeks ago I was carrying a huge shoulder bag around when I went out at night and it was super annoying to carry and always got in the way when I was dancing.  Then I bought this awesome satchel at Urban Outfitters for only $38!  It fits my blackberry, ID, camera, and chap-stick perfectly.  Now I love bringing it out with me every time I go out!

I was looking at Urban online earlier and they didn't have this particular bag in stock anymore, but I found a bunch of really cute other ones to add to my collection.

Complete The Look

I got these amazinggg army green jeggings from J Brand a few weeks ago and while I'm waiting for them to come back from the tailor (I'm incredibly short), I'm trying to figure out ways I can wear them.  I was worried at first that I wouldn't get a lot of use out of them since they're a unique color and won't go with tons of other things but as soon as I tried them on I knew I had to get them.  Since then I've been keeping an eye out for possible tops to wear with.  So far the lead contender is a plain gray sweatshirt I found at Forever 21.  I think if I add a really pretty sparkly necklace, it will complete the look.
